House Music
As music progressed into the 80's, a new form of music arrived in the UK called House Music. This was electronic dance music which originated in Chicago, and became very popular in discos / nightclubs.
House music is heavily influenced with elements of soul, funk and disco. Many of the songs released had prominent bass drums or synthesised basslines along with lots of electronic effects. Some would incorporate samples of other songs within their tune.
One of the biggest House tracks of all time was a song called 'Jack Your Body' by Steve Silk Hurley. This became an instant hit on the house scene and was a major hit around the world. The year was 1987 and from then on, House music became more main stream and available to the public on a much larger scale.
As House became more popular, tracks such as 'Pump up the Volume' by M/A/R/R/S and 'Theme from S'Express' by S'Express became hugely popular. House music was now reaching bigger and bigger audiences.
